Charging System on '80
Just replaced the battery on my '80. My old battery was only in the car for 3 months. The car was last driven about a week prior to the battery going dead. Took it in, and it tested bad with a voltage of only 2.5 volts. With the old battery my charging guage read around 15/16 volts. The new one now reads 12 volts. Also, when letting my windows down, there's about a 4 volts drain on the system. Alternator?

Check your voltage at the battery with a volt/ohm meter. I wouldn't trust the volt gauge half as far as it can be thrown, actually fly's quite well. :lol:

I just changed out my ALT last night under an umbrella with sheets of rain falling. I hope the weather is nicer there cause it sounds like its time for you to do the same. :smash:
