Default Removing Lines from Power Steering Pump....

Any special way to get the lower line off of the pump?? Do I need a line wrench?

I used an open end wrench to remove it from the pump. 11/16ths I think. The nut is on there tight, but it will come off.

Your chances of getting it off with a line wrench are pretty good. If it's not too tight other types of wrenches will work. If you are replacing the line you might be able to cut it with a heavy duty wire cutter and use a box end wrench.

I had trouble getting mine off. There's a post somewhere in the archives about it (the later C3's had metric fittings, etc). After soaking the threads in penetrating oil for weeks(!) I eventually got it off using an open ended wrench & brute force. A flare wrench would've been better. I removed the alternator & PS belt & positioned the pump so that I could get a bit more space around it. I then held a wrench on the nut, a drift on the other end of the wrench & then used my 3rd hand to aim some heavy blows at the drift with a hammer (I'd run out of patience!). Sharp jolts, while holding a good fitting wrench on the nut, are usually more successful than constant pressure on a wrench.
Good luck, those fittings can be a real PITA.
