Modulator Vacumm Line Question
The steel vacumm line that runs from the modulator valve up and into the intake Manifold. The fitting in the manifold---how does the steel line fit in? My steel vacuum line has a stem on it and fits inside the top of the fitting on the manifold. But does not seat tight. What was there was a rubber hose that did not make a tight fit. I took some 1/8 in vacumm hose forced it down on the manifold fitting and slid the line right into it. Seems tight now. Was wondering how it SHOULD be done.....Thanks.. :smash:

I don't know if yours is set up differently or not, but I just double checked in my AIM and on my '77 the long solid tube is connected at the lower end to the modulator with a short rubber tube AND is connected to the fitting on the manifold with a short rubber tube. I thought that's how it was connected last time I looked (when I put in an adjustable modulator). BTW, I replaced the rubber section up top because it was all dry rotted. I don't know if it was leaking or not, but it probably wasn't long before it would have broken apart.

A small piece of vacuum hose connects the steel tubing to the connection/fitting in the intake manifold.
