I have been reading this forum for several months now, but, this is my first post and I need a little help.
Last night I was installing my new Dynomax Ceramic Coated Headers (thanks to Summit and their 10% discount :) ) and I ran into a problem with the clutch Z-bar being in the way when I went to put it back on. I know I have read the solution to this a few weeks back, but, I cannot find it again. How do I modifiy this Z-bar to allow enough clearance, or, do I ding the header pipe in a bit? If any of you did ding the pipe in how did you do it and did it mess up the header coating?
I have printed off hundreds of pages from you guys (and gals) and the knowledge and help available on this forum is unbelievable. I just need to take a couple of evenings now to organize all the topics I have printed so I can find my answer when I need it. Thanks in advance for your help with my situation.
Re: Installed My New Headers - Help (79 Midnight Blue L82)
I had to remove my Z-bar for installation. But, once the header was in place, the Z-bar went back in without interfering with anything. Maybe your headers are a different design?
Maybe I just need to loosen my motor mounts and wiggle it around a bit. Looks like I need close to 1/4" of room to slide that z-bar back in. It is good to know that some of you are getting them in with no problems though. At least I know they should go without having to modify them.
Re: Installed My New Headers - Help (79 Midnight Blue L82)
Seems that shaving heads to increase compression and or straighten them in a rebuilding process can alter the intake plane enough to affect sealing allowing typically the sucking of oil.....well that amount of swing on that header about 5 inches or lower off the exhaust plane is enough to cause interfearances...
