I am going to replace the base interior rug on my 73 . The previous owner installed a deluxe interior rug in the front area only many years ago, I would like to return to the stock 80/20 loop rug. My question to the forum is who sells/makes the best 80/20 rugs? Any recent experiance with vendors or manufactures ? Thanks for any advice you can give. Chuck D
Those carpets are all made from the same mill, so the quality of the actual carpet will be the same, no matter where you buy it. What you should be concerned about is who has it in stock, and who has it for the lowest price.
Doc Rebuild usually can't be beat. Check his web site for the latest price.
I used to recommend Romeo Engineering for the best carpet. As far as I could tell their carpet was identical to factory in all respects. They are what the NCRS guys used to recommend. They supposedly did their own manufacturing (cutting, binding etc, not making the actual carpet.) Then I started hearing horror stories about how hard it was to get in touch with them.
Then I started hearing about how long it took to get carpet from them after you ordered it. Apparently they are a Mom and Pop operation and don't keep a big inventory on hand.
It is really too bad, since their carpet's fit and finish is outstanding, a near perfect duplicate of factory original stuff.
You might try and give them a call or check out their website. http://www.romeoengineering.com
Their prices are cheap too! 149.00 for a 68-72 80/20 loop carpet
