I would like to buy a set of stainless steel sidemount headers for my 70. Hooker headers, which is a popular make of these headers only sells in steel. I checked out eBay and it looks like there are two manufacturers/vendors that sell stainless steel sidemount headers along with the outside frame mounted exhaust tubes that exhaust outside before the rear wheel. They are advertised as being polished to a mirror shine. The entire systems are advertised at $699 without mufflers and $799 with mufflers!!! This just seems to be way to cheap! Does anyone have any info as to the quality of these exhaust systems? I'm just really concerned that I could spend $700 to $800 on an exhaust system that didn't fit. I'm aware that even after 30 or 40 years of selling BB sidemount steel headers/exhaust tubes, Hooker headers still have fitment problems!!! It takes a lot of optimism to believe that these cheapy stainless steel headers are not going to have fitment/quality problems.
Thanks

I can't comment on the quality from personal experience, but I would advise you to buy the headers without the mufflers. There's quite a few muffler insert options available. Based on previous threads where the mufflers were purchased with the header, it seems that the mufflers were welded in, which made for a pain when the purchaser didn't like the exhaust sound and it was time for a change.
BTW, I have a lot of BBC side pipe exhaust videos with different inserts.
I'm guessing you are looking at the OBX or the Maximiser brand. Lots of good reviews, some people don't like the idea of Chinese made stuff on their cars but if that doesn't worry you then shouldn't be an issue.
As has been said, probably better options for mufflers so I would go for the non resonated set and pick mufflers to suit your needs.
