Check the fusable link. Also battery and ground connections.

So a fusable link will work intermittently?? I don't understand why the car will start and run fine after I reinstall the starter and then it's just dead?

Fusable link is on the starter. Just moving things around could make a bad connection.

It has to be either the link or one of the cable connections.

hows your neutral safety?

When you say dead... is the whole car dead or just the starter not cranking?

When this occurs again dont take anything out... start looking to see where you are not getting the juice. You wanna find where its missing before touching stuff again otherwise it will drive you nuts.

Typically fuseable links do not come and go... they usually just go bad and don't work anymore. Also, the fuseable link down at the starter is not connected to the soleniod for cranking the engine. the fuseable link is for supplying the voltage up to the horn relay which is basically the 12v bus to the fuse panel. The purple wire at the soleniod is to pic the starter soleniod and this is the wire that comes from your neutral safety.

Could be ignition switch is going bad or not adjusted right, neutral safety is getting buggy (on stick cars its down on the pedal assembly on autos I believe its up under the shifter console I believe their is cable connector in the harness on both stick and auto cars up under the shifter plate. You could jumper it there to test more easily then under the dash).

Neutral safety is jumped. But when car goes dead it is all dead.

I just posted a new thread today. Explaining that I can pull the positive off of the battery and reinstall and I have power again.. Crazy, about ready to throw in the towel.
