I have a question. My son took our 75 Stingray out of the garage for the first time this year and ran it around the block a few times. When he pulled back in he said it pulled hard to the right when he stepped on the brakes. I opened the master cylinder and found it empty. After I explained to him to always check fluids before taking it out for the first time, I pulled the master cylinder out and bench bled it. I then proceeded to try and gravity bleed the brake lines. When nothing came out after a few hours I tried to vacuum bleed them. I managed to pull fluid to the rears starting with the passenger rear and moving to the driver rear. When I moved to the passenger front I noticed the rotor was covered in what appeared to be a greasy fluid and the pads were not touching the rotor. I tried vacuum bleeding and got nothing. I tried the old fashioned way and had my son pump the brake while I bled and nothing. I removed the line from the caliper and it streamed fine. I reattached the line and tried pumping the break but its still goes to the floor. Any suggestions please? Thank you Dave
Welcome to the club. It sounds like your brakes are in need of a rebuild. The grease you are seeing is brake fluid from the calipers. If your calipers have never been off the car, you are long overdue to have them sleeved in stainless steel. I would also recommend that you go with O-ring pistons. If the rubber brake lines have not been changed in years, consider replacing them at all four corners.Don't forget to add new pads while you are at it. Check the archives for the C-2 and C-3 years as this topic has been discussed at great length. Jerry

Thank you for responding. I honestly dont know the history of the car, since it was left to me. I would like to do as much as I can myself due to cost. I am open to all advice. Thanks again
Rebuild both front calipers, the kits are cheap and easy to do. More than likely they have been rebuilt in the past and the bores have been sleeved so they SHOULD be OK but when you disassemble them make sure the bore is OK. Alternatively, get a set of rebuilt ones and bolt them on. Very common problem on C3s, especially after sitting for awhile.
