Default Cooling issue

I'm posting this for my co-worker. He has a '78 and as long as he stays under 50 mph the engine temperature is 150, over 50 mph the engine starts to over heat. I also this happen to a '72 on the Stars and Strips tour. 72' would start to over heat at speeds over 60 mph. Any ideas

There are pieces of foam that block the area around the radiator so that all the air will flow through only the radiator, if these are missing a lot of the air goes around the radiator instead of through it at higher speeds.

Waz you thinking of me :jester at 95 degrees or more ambient and 3000 rpm she would get hot  I replaced the lower radiator hose because the spring and hose both felt soft. That old hose must have been collapsing restricting some flow.

Waz Uppp! when Vernon said he was having heating issues I did think of you. Was the lower raditor hose the only thing you changed? Do you have the foam stripping around the hood and raditor? Pam and I will be in BG for the flag presentation. Great job on the S & S Tour it is a trip we'll never forget. We'll see ya in BG! (We'll be in Pam's '73) us C3 guys got to stick together. :flag

Thanks for all the responses. I spoke with vernon and he said that he had replaced all the foam pices around the rad. Changed the upper and lower hoses, had the rad cleaned and changed the thermostat. He is not losing or leaking water. Any other ideas whats going on?

I have the same issue in my 78. I replaced my rad and water pump, which helped a bit. But I found out my fan clutch is gone, and I am missing the little chin spoiler...
