ok had a problem yesterday with my starter. didnt click , snap , poop or anything. however when i got underneath and shorted out the terminals, it fired up. a couple hours later, went out to the garage and it started fine. not running headers so dont know if its heat soak or not, does have the orig shield on the starter. took a members advice in my previous post and pulled the solonoid and flipped the contacts around and cleaned up the wheel inside.
when i was down there i noticed 2 fuse links in the wire that goes to the big post. my question is, can fuseable links fail if they get old or if they get hot?? was about 110 here today and had the air going full tilt. im thinking its the only thing left under there that could cause a problem, but dont know spit about em. this is the first time this has ever happened, and wouldnt like it to happen again. thanks for any input here guys. regards, fng
