Default H pipe installed.....Sweet!

Since we were already down there and had the whole rear end out....and the Smart Struts were in the way....I had the pipes re-routed and and H pipe installed....we followed the instructions from chevy mag about spray black paint on pipe...then install where the paint bubbles...very cool. Now the car really puuurrrs....and the sound is awesome......I do have a question about my spark plugs......1 was slightly fouled black....2 was clean burning.....3 was dirty and fouled black.....4 was clean burning....5 was clean....6 was clean.......7 was white clean burn....8 was white extremely white...very lean burn.....Why are all burning at different colors???? These were readings before the H-pipe install....I installed new plugs after the H-pipe install and have not taken any readings on the new plugs yet. :seeya Cappy

914eener,
It's not how far back...it's where the bubbles form in the paint.....Mines ended up just pass the trans crossmember. :seeya Cappy

terryrudy,
Yes...Feels like, and sounds like, the improvement in power is there...however I have not measured on dyno or at the track yet. Nice meeting you during your visit.........Aloha :seeya Cappy
BTW today should be a fun day.....we do burn-outs till the car launches absolutely straight....Friend has aligment equipment and will keep tweeking the rears till the best flat tire marks are on the ground, and the straightest launch is achieved.....Then it's to the track for some ET's....Aloha :seeya Cappy

Terry, mine went in just behind the cross member....Not sure of a Perf. Improvement, since it went in the same time as my Headers......but it sure mellowed my Chambered Pipes, and I'm not sure I :D about that!

Hey, cool! I've never heard of the paint trick. Does the paint bubbling indicate a hot spot caused by resonance or something? A high pressure spot where a balancer would work best?

Do you have the technicals of the paint trick?

Spray black paint along pipe........where the bubbles form, install the H-pipe. You're going to love the sound....mine went off just after the trans crossmember......sweet sound when blasting wide open throttle....just like no back pressure.....total scavenging. :seeya Cappy

Aloha (nunus79),
I have a set of AFR's Comp190s angle milled to 64cc with 1.6 Scorpion Roller Rockers and Dual Springs to handle a new Hyd Roller Comp Cam 236/242 of duration @0.050 in. lift, and 0.520/0.540 in. lift also will drop engine out and install Hardcore Racing 383 internally balanced Rotating Assembly part number HCR-216-86005 in Summit Catalog....Heads are almost ready for shipment last time I spoke with Dave at AFR. Cam and roller lifters already here. Just waiting for other parts to arrive....Track Date?????....When I PAU upgrading this thing....

Today was great.....we did burn-outs....then set her back up on the alignment rack...Tweak-Tweak....more burn-outs...back to rack....Tweak-Tweak....more burn-outs.....8T1 pulled to the driver side then straightened out from what we could see.....nice sweeping curve.....we kept tweaking till the black patch of rubber tracks were absolutely straight....no driver side drift anymore...I have to wonder how many seconds are lost drifting sideways???We also removed the front sway bar....now the nose is up on launch and she squats in the rear. Big flat black tire marks....so tires are leaving good footprint..... :seeya Cappy
Oh BTW.....Why Yes, She sounds even better....Yes, I think I found her "G" spot...No, I mean Sweet Spot. :D
