Default Removable rear window in a later c3?

Anyone converted their 73-77 rear window to the earlier c3 removable windows?

How hard is this and what parts must be modified/changed?

I tried to convert my rear window to this, but found it was quite impossible. :hat

However, I have read topics on the forum in the past on this and apparently it's not too difficult, you just need to pick up the rear window and trim from some place hither or thither. Do a search...

You need a removeable rear window and frame (their on ebay for less than $75).

And these parts.

I did mine for about $200 including new weatherstrip ($45).

Best upgrade I have done.

TRW did you get the pictured items through e-bay or directly from a supplier (ZIP etc.) and was it the stock 68-72 piece or is it a conversion kit? What was involed to punch out the old rear window?

David

Venders sell them.

Or you have 4 hours to bid.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...851301065&rd=1

They are misnamed in the ad, so not too much action on them.

Terry

Edit: I bought all the stuff in the pic from someone parting out a vette. He was selling a bunch of different parts and I emailed. Sent the pic and I bought them.

We have the parts to do mine, too. All the 73-77 bodys have the indents and latch attach points hidden under the sealed window trim. Any can be converted.

We a window, frame, and storage tray at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach about 2 and a half years ago. Yeah, I know, it's a slow project.

I have a stock (1970) removable. Do you need pictures of the set up from a stock stand point or one modified from solid? I can get digital pictures of the glass, inside frame, storage tray (foam and latch missing).

When I converted mine, I bought a tray and have never installed it. The window sits on the carpeted rear wheels perfect. And the T-Tops still fit in.

The tray will double the cost of the conversion.

I would do the conversion and see if you really need the tray.

There are no holes to drill (GM left them in the later cars). If you look at either a venders pics or a 68-72 AIM it shows where everything goes.

Hope this helps

Terry
