I have the Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers that are only a few months old but seem a little quiet to suit me so I'm toying with buying the Flowmaster 40 series muffler.
Are the Flowmaster 40 Series (The Original Flows) That much better, (power & sound) than the Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers?
I like the DynoMax Race Magnum Bullets. The seems louder than the Flowmasters. Besides, EVERYONE on their brother have Flowmasters. The Magnums "are for race uses only"
I made the same swap a few years and for the same reason that you are considering. I didn't expect any performance improvement (and didn't notice any change one way or the other), I just liked the FM sound better. A lot of guys have been unhappy with the resonance of the FM's but I kinda like "fuzzy" mirrors :). Definitely try to listen to some before you make the change. Besides being louder, they have a different sound also. Which sound is 'best" is a personal thing so you have to decide that for yourself.
Yoy might get more feed back for your car if you post in the C5 section. Unless you have another Corvette as well? What year C3 do you have ? Is it a true duals type system?

I just got my flowmasters series 40s and love them. They give a much deeper sound and gave me a decent power boost over the original mufflers. Go with the flows!
Re: To keep Dynomax or get Flowmasters??? (Aaron-74)
Besides, EVERYONE on their brother have Flowmasters.
Yikes! I have Flowmaster and I'm NOT on my brother! Just kidding. :jester
I've got the Flowmaster 40's and the sound great. I wanted aggressive/loud and that's what I got. I don't know if the flow better than other mufflers but I like them. They are a good muffler and that's why a lot of people have them.
If you go with them make sure you get a balance pipe (H or X) installed to increase HP and decrease internal resonance.

I think the flowmasters look good. I like the sound, but, they sometimes sound too "tinny" for me. This is what my Dynomax's sound like.
I had the Dynomax Super Turbos before I went to Flowmasters 40 Series.
The Dynomax Super Turbos weren't loud enough for me.
The Flowmaster sound awesome! :smash:
Re: To keep Dynomax or get Flowmasters??? (moskovita)
I had a set of the Dynomax and the flowmaster 40's.. I did not like the Dynomax's because they were not loud enough. The flowmasters were way too loud and inside the car, I could not hear myself think. I went with, yep, Borla's... All stainless and they sound awesome! I heard these on a 78 Vette today at work. I'm glad I got them, can't wait to put them in and they look great with all the polsihed stainless steel:yesnod: These are also the exact size to fit like factory!!
The Flowmaster 50's are just a little too big (3 inches too long), I wanted them to look factory or I would have gone with the flowmaster 50's.
Re: To keep Dynomax or get Flowmasters??? (SLICKMAN)
Flowmasters 40's (normal) sound great but the reasonanse is anoying, I have 40's with the DeltaFlow and that reduces the resonance inside and still sounds good on the outside.
BTW I'm selling mine, 2 Flows 40's DeltaFlow.

A friend has 40's on his N20 powered 12.1 second 89 5.0..and I drown him out with my bullets. I had to prove to Napa that my car was a "race" car before they would sell them to me. Suposedly these mufflers are for "race uses only" http://www.dynomax.com/race.stm
