mine seemed to be running fine . but haven't done anything to it in 20 years . since I had it rebuilt . doubt if there 10000 mikes on it so I decided to have the fluid and filter changed . my guy said when he opened it up the pan was about 1/8 inch deep with metal . question is would you have it rebuilt or just buy one of the performance ones in summit or jegs or monster that go for around 1000$

If you've ever contemplated converting to a stick, now would be the time. Just saying.

I personally wouldn't do anything until it starts acting up. How well do you know the mechanic that did the work? Some metal shavings is normal.

haven't had a stick since 78 . would love one but don't think it would be good idea . even though im 62 I probably couldn't control myself . I know the guy pretty good I do all his bow work (archery)for him and his dad .he saved the filter and some sludge to show me . I took pictures but have a cheap phone and will see if I can get them on here . didn't see and big chips in the sludge and the filter was probably 1/3 covered with semi fine groundings .

guess it depends on how original the rest of the car is, if everything is numbers matching rebuild it otherwise go for aftermarket
