So I received a PM from someone wanting to see the car run...I guess they doubted the car ran 10s or something...and since I'm about to drive it cross country.

So here is an older vid from the track. Not my fastest pass but a decent vid....Just in case there was doubt.

Very fast street car with AC.
And their was a slight hesitation off the line in that vid, still runs a 10.7.
Just a reminder..... this car is faster than the Auto 8 speed equipped 2015 Z06, per Car & Driver.
How much does a Z06 cost$

I regard to a long trip,

my friends father had a 1969 427 / 400 and would drive from NY to Texas in the 1970's for work. I don't remember much but it had PS, PB and A/C, 4 spd. I remember it had a low rear pos 3:08.

I'm looking forward to the photos and video of your trip. You think maybe about finding a drag strip at the far end of your trip and running 10's there as well just to show the nay sayers?

Awe hell no...! Lol. Not racing this thing 2k miles from home, by myself with no trailer, parts or help.... Not to mention I wouldn't have my race tires with me. I'm on BFG Radial TAs for the trip, I probably could barely run 11s on these on a GOOD track.

I don't need to prove that it can run the numbers....I've made over 80 10 sec passes in it...This car has been together for 5 years, lots of people know what it runs.. It's not like 10s are that fast anyway.. Bones stock cars run 10s these days. If it was 9s, it would be another story. Hell my Z06 should run 8.80s in good air on a good track and I wouldn't dare drive that thing cross country, and it has fuel injection and OD.

I hear ya. tens aint fast to you, but to the rest of us tens is fast and it's even faster in a 40 year old street car. I'm hoping to hit high elevens na before putting the blower on. But still a killer trip, I'm in for the virtual ride. Thanks for sharing.

Have a fantastic trip! The a/c will be nice. Were doing the run to The Dragon this fall from the north picking up at Skyline Dr, Blue Ridge Pkwy and Cherohala Pkwy. Who nows we may end up in New Orleans by the time we're finished.

Well, I have everything but the kitchen sink... I even threw in some extra valve springs and tools to change em, "just in case"..

Added an empty 2 gal gas can, strategically packed in the tub and a second fire extinguisher inside now that full blown paranoia has set in.

Locked and loaded..

About to go fill it up and it's ready to roll out at 4am.

We made it to Memphis from Houston straight through, 600 miles, 5 gas stops, no issues. Car ran 180-185* all day in 91* temps, AC blasting, running 3000-3200 rpms the whole way (70-75 mph). The car even did better on fuel then I thought it would..

Not a lot of scenery for cool pics, that will come tomorrow and the next day once we get to BG.

Pacing a Jag..

Appropriate RoadKill shirt on for the trip...

The wife clicking off a highway roady pic...

Getting into Tennesse

Downtown Memphis, a few blocks over from Bealle st (the main drag), where we rented a town house with a garage for the night.

Safely tucked away for the night. We'll go out on foot tonight to the Blues bars and BBQ place.

Tomorrow after a quick car check out, we head 4 hrs to BG....

Great so far! I would imagine after the first hour you are used to the engine running 3k and now just feels like a normal car .I get on the interstate running 70 think g I'm running the crap out of it and in 5 min I'm passing people.

Great 1st day. Even at 12mpg it's way cheaper than flying. Also you're actually getting 24 passenger miles per gallon.

Very impressive and envious of you. This is something I would love to do but quite don't trust my car yet. I'm sure you're having a blast and looks like you thought of everything. Keep us posted and good luck.
