Default how far do you take it ?

for some reason I decided it was time to work and play with my vette . so in the last month ive put new booster , oil change , trans filter and fluid ( he said it should be rebuilt but for not doing anything to it for 20 years im going to wait until something happens ) , spark wires , new hoses , hei coil , plugs, probably just under $1000 . now I find out I need to rebuild back end control arms spring , bearings , all bushings ,looks at about 3 grand worth of parts and labor . then it need door panels , seats redone ,and total car repainted probably another 10 grand if you count the paint .so if I do this I will have over 30 grand in the car since I bought it 25 years ago .at what point do you just go by one that's already had this stuff done .if I do it all it might be worth 15+- . if I was younger and had the right tools .I would probably try to do most of it myself .

It is all about the smiles and experiences you have with the car and the hobby. What is that worth to you?

Or if you consider the alternative of buying new cars and suffering thousands in depreciation every year for 20 or 30 years, it ain't bad.

If youve had it this long and you like it look at it this way
-You know what you got which is priceless meaning what the car needs/doesnt etc.
-How much does a new car cost?

Sure buying one "done" is financially the easiest but imo buying used cars these days is plain scary. Been looking for 6 mos and 9 out of 10 I see are major major headaches if you really look close enough

Bubba work
A spray can resto where things are hacked together etc etc.

Most important thing is what does your gut tell you? Do you really like the car? Sell and buy or keep it and throw your life away

It would depend on the attachment to the vette. In my case it's a labor of love, it being the car I wanted since I was 4 years old and knowing that I'll never get what I've got invested, it wouldn't pay to sell the car, plus it was a gift from the wife, so I'll never sell it. I got north of thirty counting what she spent when she bought it and maybe one of my grand babies will get that out of it.

I wouldn't of put the last grand in it if I didn't want it . thing was when I told the wife another 3 grand . she said go ahead and the next thing was you will get it back if you sell it right . I thing it was my pause that alerted her .
