Default Changing rivits on upper ball joint

Can someone give me some basic instruction on how to change my upper ball joints. I have them removed and want to go back with rivited as original. Is there any special tools needed or do I just beat them with a hammer.
Thanks

You might check to see if your friendly neighborhood Chevrolet dealer has new control arms with the ball joints riveted in. These were available some years ago.

I suppose most folks drill out the rivets and bolt in replacement ball joints.

The normal process as Guy said is to bolt them in. The replacement joints usually come with bolts and nuts.

If you want to rivet them you'll need an air hammer (Impact hammer) and some one to "buck" the rivet. Originals may have been heated at install? But I'm not sure about that. You'll need steel rivets not aluminum.
