Forgive me if a similar thread exists. I looked for a while and kept getting distracted reading threads that didn't answer my question.
I just replaced my tired 350 with a new Pace Performance 350ci in my 72. It has a mild cam and sounds much deeper with the stock exhaust than the original. I'd like to replace the exhaust with 2 1/2" system like Magnaflow or Pypes. I don't want obnoxiously loud, just a deep tone that accents the cam lope. Also, considering ceramic coated long tubes but again don't want loud. (Made this mistake in a 2010). Any advice or sound clips? Thanks!
Here's a muffler not many use: My '75 350 has longtube headers, and I put Dynomax Super Turbos on it. I get compliments on the sound all the time. They sound good but are not obnoxious. If I cruise through the neighborhood at a low enough rpm, people don't even look up when I drive by. When I hit the gas on the open road, then they sound nice and powerful. (sorry don't have a sound clip.)

The part that I bolded is really our forte. MagnaFlow exhausts tend not to provide a massive amount of sound all the time; the volume is pretty tame at idle and cruising speed and only really comes alive when you get into the throttle. That said, you're going to get a smooth, deep tone all the time.
We make an exhaust system for the '72 350 cars from the front crossmember back made from 100 percent stainless steel with mandrel bent tubing and turn-down tips. It's part number 16842 and you can read more about it here on our site (click on the "Install Sheet" link for a look at the constituent parts). We build for durability and toughness, but we also back that up with a lifetime warranty for defects.
Here's an older video of ours that does give a pretty good idea of the sound.

A couple of concerns...1. This one only has the turn down tips, do I need to cut them off and weld my factory tips on or is there a direct fit? 2. I had Magnaflows on a 2008 and had drone, any complaints on the C3?

1. Our cat-back for the C3 does only come with the turn-down tips so if you wanted something else, you would have to weld on your factory tips or an aftermarket 2.5" tip. We do make a variety of exhaust tips if you wanted a different look, but if you already have the factory tips and don't like the turndown, it makes the most sense to use what you already have.
2. Our feedback has been little-to-no drone on the C3 cat-back. Where there has been drone reported, it has been a narrow 100 RPM or so slice of the rev range. With drone in that small of a range, there can be variability even in two identical chassis from the same model year where one has a bit and one doesn't. That's true to some (very small) extent with cars that come out of the factory now and the changes are a bit more with cars that have weathered and changed, however subtly, over 40-50 years.
Let me know if you have any more questions about it.
