Default Air Conditioner Disconnect

My 73 came with heater bypassed and Air Conditioning not working. When I move the dials and blower speed, nothing happens. I'm assuming the heater core is no good. And I'm fine without heat. By the time I need heat, it will be time to put her away for the Winter.

While it might be nice to have Air, I'm ok with just keeping the T-Tops off and roasting my toes.

The compressor is original and apppears ok. So I'm inclined to let it stay where it is. But the belt is still connected.

Is there any reason not to just remove the AC belt? I assume I'd lower the load on the engine a bit. Or should I just leave the belt on?

No, if that's what you want to do.
