Default 1976 EFE actuator to modified Headers

I am installing the hedman hedders #68301 because they have the AIR tube inlet for the smog system. My question is does the EFE actuator connect to the heat riser in the stock exhaust? My AIM book does not show how this is connected? If it does I'll need some sort of extension to connect to the long tube 3" collector I assume?

Are you referring to the hose that connects to the air cleaner. You would not use this in a header installation.

Thanks for the reply. The hose to the air cleaner it appears just goes into the valve cover hole. I'm referring to where the bottom of the EFE actuator actually goes. Did the EFE actuator just connect directly into the heat riser in the exhaust? With the long tube looks like i'll need an extension?

The end of the actuator rod hooks to the heat riser valve.

hedman 68301 are long tube headers. How are you going to hook up a heat riser for the EFE actuator to function? The heat riser is for a stock exhaust manifold.

Not sure yet, but there is a forum member that did this I'll need to contact. With his 3" collector and 3" universal CAT for SMOG he mentions the exhaust shop fabricated in the heat riser for him. It's custom but I guest it can be done.

Thanks. I was trying to determine if the EFE just went straight into the riser which is apparently does, but no in my build.

I FOUND THE ANSWER:

Just talked to Hedman, and their EO certified exhausts come with the heat riser adapter for the long tube header for stock heat riser and a separate hose and adapter for the heat stove.

ALL'S GOOD!!!

Thanks again

You originally stated you wanted Hedman 68301. In the link below it states they are NOT legal for California. So what headers are you referring to that are EO certified.

I noticed that on Jegs as well and was concerned, but called Hedman previously to ask. The 68301 has and EO sticker as well as 68307/67308 (for non AIR) and are legal for sale in California. Some forum members have installed and passed emissions in CA previously with that sticker.

Thanks for pointing that out.

They are legal for 75-80 MY Corvettes. Unfortunately, they just dumped everything in the subnotes straight into the description blob.

-27 is the latest one, which specifies for 350cid engines only.
