I find myself counting down the days and getting excited just thinking about this upcoming weekend. It is going to be a very good event this year. Looking forward to the corvette evolution display. This will be the first year I get to take my vette although it is my 3 or 4th time since I live so close. Some tips for those who may be comming for first time:
1) bring comfortable walking shoes. The fairgrounds are LARGE and has a pretty good hill on one side (where the car corral will be)
2) Bring water. Temps are suppose to be in mid to low 90's and lots of humidity. Bottled water inside usually around $1-$2 for a SMALL bottle
3) If looking for parts, be sure to do some bargain shopping around first. Last year I bought a full set of 4 SS calipers from Muskegon Brakes (Highly reccomend) and I went to just about every vendor there with brakes and took the time to speak to the reps. Found exactly what I wanted at the price I wanted to pay.
4) Parking for corvettes only INSIDE Fairgrounds goes pretty quick on Friday and Saturday, so get there early. Parking on local's lawns or at the national armory nearby is about $10 and is secure. At spring and fall Carlisle I park on the same woman's lawn every year and last year she invited me and my father-in-law for lunch. Nice group of people surrounding the fairgrounds
Hope this may help some first timers....anyone else with some helpful tips.....??
The powers to be expect to close the gates for 'day' parking around 9:30am on Saturday. The parking will be really limited again this year due to so many cars in the fun field. Most 'vette' owners find it is easier to enter the fun field (admission to the fairgrounds is guaranteed).
Stop by gate 3 and say 'howdy' to the Central Penn Corvette club.
This is a "depends on your interest" response :) I don't waste my time looking at every "Corvette Joe" catalog company that will be there. I can buy their stuff any time by calling an 800 toll free number. I spend my time in the flea market looking at "stuff" that individual vendors are selling, i.e., nice NOS parts, excellent used parts, little fasteners, etc. Chuck
And that reminds me of another one....be sure to bring a backpack or something to carry things in if you intend on picking up some catalogs or other small items throughout the day. Bring a wagon or handtruck if you intend on getting BIGGER items because it is NO fun carrying things all over the place to get back to your car. Hope to meet up with some of you there....will have my corvetteforum.com nametag hanging on my backpack.
