just to give some specs first.I have a 76 Vette with, what I am told I'm is a350 bored to 355.block number states a 82-84 .never know what ya got after someone else has been in there.Getting there,it is a auto and has a 1406 elderbrock .
I has been having problems with stumbling at 1500-2000rpms.I am getting frt lt cylinder plug showing rich condition.Loads up after setting hot, changed pump to all positions and still seems to load up.Adjusted float. This is sure like beating a dead horse, but it is just aggravating.I took it out today on pump arm lower setting and it ran good on open road but initial start up it seems to be loading up and idling rough.I just want you guys thoughts on my next move....thanks
what happens when you adjust the idle mixtures scews in? does the engine react and stall when either screw is screwed in all the way? if not your not idling off the idle circuit anymore...

You may not have a carburetor problem at all but rather timing and maybe fuel delivery problems. If the timing is correct and your pump is putting out 1-1/2 pints in 30 seconds then the next thing to look at is the mixture screw adjustments; typically 1-1/2 to 2 turns open from gently seated. Gees, it just started hailing; hail stones about 1" diameter. Odd because it was 90 degrees 2 hours ago.

My buddy has a shop and he adjusted the settings last night and the mixture screws worked fine,We did not get a chance to mess with the timing which is what he said we should next time he has some free time. He adjusted the float because it would cut off when going in a sharp turn,That is fixed at least it didnt do it today..I was a bit concerned when we found one plug oil soaked, but wouldnt fire(accel)Replaced it with AC Delco and I pulled it todayafter running, black but dry at least.....Thanks for everyones comments..
I decided to move pump arm back to the middle position and went to church and it ran ok but had to readjust idle.Got home advanced the distributor a tad,I don't have a light yet, smoothed out bait and test drove.Car ran great but still a slight hesitation. gonna get a light next and dial it better. Pretty happy how it ran though, quick as crap..Still wondering if I need to add a fuel pressure regulator....
