Hello everyone, hope to get a little help on a steering problem.I recently bought a 1974 that had been sitting for a few years and had been badly abused body wise.I cleaned up the fuel tank and lines, put fresh master cylinder and calibers on and got it fired up.Tried taking it for a short drive but the steering was crazy. When you turn left it went hard all the way left, then the same when you turn it right. It's like there's no in between.Anyone had or heard of this before?Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Your steering valve's spool is getting stuck for some reason. Put a seal kit in it and all will be normal again.
On my 68 it was a steering valve that has a rod going to your steering cylinder of your power steering system. I had to replace both to get it to work properly. Don't put your hands through the steering wheel to start the car when you are having valve problems in you steering, or you will end up with a broken wrist. It will take over and pull the steering wheel hard to the left. Check to see if you have a cylinder leaking or leaks off the valve. This is about the only thing on a 68 that would cause this problem. Ball joints, tie rods, will give you a warning when they are bad.
Sounds like a power steering control valve issue.
You can try adjusting it first to see if you have any luck. Go here and fast forward to 6:30 and watch the procedure.
If that does not do the job then a power steering control valve rebuild or replacement may be needed.
First check all the obvious stuff like fluid levels and something physically wrong with the system.
