Foeum: My 74 has been parked for a long time. It had water come in through gas cap vent hole. I got all the water out and put in some real gas. Now I couldn't get the pri bowl to fill up?
I'm going to try more gas in case is dried up.
Now the clear filter gets nothing.
Is it possible my fuel pump went bad?
Or is it that my driveway is sloped and the gas can't get to the carb?
This fuel situation is breaking my *****.
I want to drive my car.
Try looking in the fuel tank cap. You can look for fuel and trash.
If you have fuel, it should gravity feed to the pump. There is a screen in the tank pickup that can become plugged. Since you can see what comes out of the pump, check the rubber hose that goes into the pump, if it is removed you can check supply.
I mentioned that the fuel pump is higher than the gas tank.
The car is parked on a sloped driveway.
Do I need to get the fuel level above the fuel pump to get it to prime and pump fuel?

If the level is lower than the pump, then it would need to pump a little to prime. If you add some fuel to the carb through the vent, and let the engine run it can prime easier, just be careful to not get fuel everywhere and cause a fire.
The end of the tank-to-engine fuel pipe (where the "S" hose attaches) has to be lower than the gas in the tank-not just the tank itself. As posted above, prime the engine thru the carb vent (2 oz) and it should catch and fire. You may have water in the fuel lines also. Your best bet is to move the car to level ground (or raise the rear of the car), disconnect the "S" hose and drain about a quart of gas out of the lines.
