After 3 attempts,I finally got a power steering control valve that didn't leak. Love those rebuilt parts! Only took 10 days and lots of work on my part.

Stories like yours are precisely the reason why I'm not in a hurry to replace my leaky control valve. I'm sure you were fit to be tied after installing the 2nd bad one. I just don't understand why they can't rebuild them such that they won't leak.
I'm starting to think that the best thing is to just to attempt to rebuild it myself. Then if it leaks, I have no one to blame but myself.
Out of curiosity, did you grease the zerk fitting? Most advise not to as this can damage the seals causing leakage. If you feel you must, do so with the engine running.

I did not grease it! Been there done that years ago.
Do not buy rebuilt parts if you can avoid it...I learned a long time ago to go new whenever I can. I still have the OEM PS cylinder and control valve and will either rebuild it myself when it leaks or buy a new one from one of the vendors. X2 for electrical parts...new. Not worth the time, aggravation and wasted money on rebuilt parts...most are junk and will not last like a new one.
When I was younger I would buy rebuilt alternators and constantly would be swapping out the rebuilt for another rebuilt..it was ridiculous. In the last 10 years, I have been buying exclusively new alternators/starters for my cars and have never had to replace one of the new ones after the swap...never. The new starter in my Grand Prix has a lifetime warranty from auto zone....the only reason i bought it from them. Replaced the OEM starter at about 80K miles and the car has 175K today with the same new replacement starter.
