Default Cable?

On my 69, there is a short cable that runs from one side of the driveshaft tunnel through a loop on the rearend crossmember to the other side of the driveshaft tunnel. Could someone please tell me what this is or does?

Thank You,
Rick

Sounds like part of the parking brake cable. The long cable connects to this and pulls on each side of the parking brake.

That is a safety cable to the center seat belt mounting plates.

That cable prevents your seats (and you if you're buckled up) from flying thru the windshield in the event of a 100 mph head on collision.

Donnies picture is a good illustration and hopefully yours are connected the same way otherwise you defiantly have a serious safety issue. Good picture Donnie!

If you get in a 100MPH head on collision in one of these, that cable will help them find your body.
