Default Dash pad help?

I have a 1977 . I'm installing new dash pads. On the lower left and lower right they have clips. I don't know where they go or attach too? Need help asap.

I have no clue.

My factory ones don't have those. I've pulled them many times.

Don't believe so. Nothing lighted in that area, and my factory one had the bracket

Could it be for securing the air ducts?

Are the clips on the tunnel side or door side?

Maybe it's added support to maintain the shape?

The clip is for the forward console extension... There is a tab on the extension that fits into the clip.

And.. I'll add to this so you're not surprised when you are finished. The lower pads never meet the consoles perfect.... They didn't when the cars were new and they probably won't be perfect on the reproduction either.

Here you'll see two pictures of two very original examples. The dash on the left is out of my personal car and both cars in the pictures are original pad cars.

I'm confused, aren't those extensions for pre 77 or am I missing something?
cheers Dave

No NZ your not confused. In 77 the corvette had a one piece side panel instead of the extensions. The clip on the dash pad still hooks onto the front top of it.

good point... I missed the year on his post... my apologies..

Gazehound is correct, the leading tab on top the side panel tucks under that same clip.
