Default newbie question

This is my first vette. It's a '76 stingray... it's been sitting for about two years... im wanting to drain the half tank of fuel that's in it. It looks like the sending unit is on the passenger side of the tank up high... do you just have to siphon it out? Sorry in advance but thankful for the help

You could siphon it out or you could put the rear of the car on ramps and drain the fuel by removing the fuel line to the fuel pump and catching it in a container large enough. You might also want to flush the brake fluid and change the oil.

It turns over. I took the fuel line off of the carb and put it in a bottle with some gas. It blew a tiny amount of bubbles but no gas ever shot into the in-line fuel filter... wondering about the fuel pump as well. Thanks

Default getting it ready to run

SInce you are bringing it back to life after 2 years..and who knows what it was like when put away..you should pretty much go thru everything..all the easy steps first..get it running then see what you have. Good..it turns over..but first change the oil and filter immediately, check all fluid levels..top up as may be needed. You can do drain and refills later once you have the engine running ok and your get ready for next steps, For the gas tank, for now simply siphon out as much as you can..even if just a simple siphon out of the fill tube you should be able to get it quite low and if you get the siphon tube to the bottom it may be able to pull out small debris. (do any open fuel work in a safe environment the fumes are explosive..oudoors is best..no fluorescent lights (they can spark in the exciters), no hot water heater or refrig in the garage etc..even an electric garage door opener can be an ignition..anyway drain it, refill with fresh fuel, no ethanol if you can, or treat it with a stabilizer. see if your fuel pump is working. see if timing is set close. Check all safety items..and if ok yippee test drive. abd,,keep about 3 fire extinguishers handy..but not too close.
let us know.

Just siphon the gas out into 5 gallon buckets. If it still smells like gasoline use it in your lawnmower and edger.
