Default Clutch safety switch

Would a bad clutch safety switch keep my 1978 manual corvette from pop starting? If so, does anyone have a diagram of the wires or can guide me to their location? Thanks !

Yes you can stillush start it if you have to with a bad switch. The switch just I terupts the start circuit. The switch is located way up on the clutch pedal. Usually 2 heavy purple wires go to it. PIA to remove while the pedal box is in the car but it can be done. Make sure the linkage rod is still there. A lot of times I have seen the rod fall out and this prevents the switch from working.

It may be a larger problem then. My car won't even pop start (tires screen to halt). When I go to start it there's a loud clunk. Maybe the engine is stuck? :/ A replacement engine was put in, and three days after the car wouldn't start. Any ideas?

Put the transmission in neutral and put a ratchet wrench on the crank bolt to try to turn it. Do not put too much force on it, you dont want to break the bolt. If it wont budge start removing spark plugs and look for something out of the ordinary.
