Hey all, I blocked off the exhaust bi pass ( the one that goes through the intake ) as my car would not run when hot. Now all that hot running BS is fixed, however now I am having a bit of a choke problem. Car wont kick down when warm. I guess that heat activated choke is not getting hot enough now to work properly. So, can I change that manual heat activated system to a electric choke system? Thanx
Electric chokes have advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is they operate without using hot exhaust gasses and the disadvantage is they will start warming the moment the key is turned on. So you can't dilly-daly when starting it.
The conversions for the hot-air choke are common and easy (pretty much bolt in and wire to the idle stop solenoid)
The conversions for the divorced choke to electric where an electric coil is mounted in the original locations and a rod comes up to activate the carb as it did originally. (Not the most attractive things but mostly hidden)

Are you still using the Quadrajet that came on your car? If so, have you checked the vacuum operated Choke Pull-off?
