Default Courtesy Lightbulb #

I have a 1973 corvette and am looking for the model# for the courtesy light bulb in the rear storage area of my car. I have been unsuccessful at this point in finding one.

The rear courtesy light should be a #90 but people have frequently switched them to a #1142 which is much brighter but also runs hotter
M

#1142 1.6 Amp 18 Watt
#90 .58 Amp 7.5 Watt

Aha, good advice. I see there's a BULB CHART on page 74 in my owner's manual.

I would change it to LED, much brighter and cooler. I changes all my interior and instrument lamps to LED. Advantages are they are brighter and run cooler.

There is a great deal of valuable information in the owner's manual. Sit down and read through it.

The two small barrel connectors that connect the wire to that socket are fairly easy to unplug, especially when replacing the lamp fixture into the rear of the compartment. Might be worth pulling the 2 screws to check something easy (fuse is ok right?)

Yeah the fuse is ok. Its something with the socket. When I install the bulb it doesn't light up until I put a bit of pressure on it. One of the connectors is looks like its welded to the bottom of the socket while the other is spring loaded. I probably just need a new socket.

Here is a good website to help cross over
https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/...1-412--142375/

Also here is a pick of the difference they make in your instrument panel. Left is LED if you were wondering.
