Brake Light Stays On
How do I go about tracking down where the problem is.
The D*** light is burning a hole in the middle of my head!
otherwise, it might be an electrical connection like you suspect or it could be as simple as low fluid level in the M/C or the switch in the proportioning valve is stuck.
Sounds like the main brake light switch to me
If its a 69 or later model, very easy to replace
Take your vette in dark place (or outside when its dark)
Have a freind watch your brake lights.
Jiggle the foot brake lever, press it down/up. Have your friend tell you when they go off or flicker
Disconnect the connections that goes to the front brake switch. See what that does. While the wires are disconnetced, touch the ends of the wires together. See the results then.
If the brake lights go off when the wires are disconnected, and go on when the wires are touched together, its the switch. Easy to replace, $9 peice
If no change with the above, check the parking light switch
Check the ground wires that run from the rear of the brake light housings to the frame. Find where they are attached to the frame. Remove the ground, clean both conector and the area where it grounds to frame. Try again
