Default Moog Control arm bushings???

Just wondering... I notice that the Moog K5196 uppers and K304 lower control arm bushings don't protrude out of the inboard side like the OEM or the aftermarket ones do. I understand why the OEM bushings do.. but I don't understand why the aftermarket ones do but the recommended Moog brand doesn't.

The Moog has full length shell and the OEM ones are short with the rubber sticking out. They failed after 8K miles.

Which ones failed after 8K? The Moog or the OEM? The reason I am asking is because just about everybody I have talked to recommended the Moog bushings.
