Default Will Vortec Heads fit?

I have decided on Vortec heads for my L-48. With the heads and the new intake, will they fit under the stock '79 hood? If at all possible I want to keep the dual-snorkel air cleaner.

When I had my 77 I used that same set up with no issues.

Anyone know if they will fit correctly under a cowl induction cleaner?

I used a Professional Products Cyclone intake which has the lowest carb height I could find. My dual snorkel air cleaner fits with stock hood.

nice heads. You going to change the camm to utilize the new heads? and you will need exhaust as well... It will be a big jump over stock.

I had the XE262 cam with Vortec heads on the 383 in my car. Ran very well with good power at fairly low rpms. Don't forget the self-aligning rocker arms. Your original pushrods should be OK.

Yes, the vortecs will fit under the stock hood with the stock air cleaner. I had mine on using a performer intake and a Qjet.

I didn't see it mentioned, so just wanted to add this - Make sure whatever intake you choose has the correct vortec bolt pattern. Except for a few aftermarket vortec style heads, they are usually not the same as the "traditional" SBC intake bolt pattern.
