Default Turn signal issue. Need help.

Recently added led bulbs in the rear, along with a new electronic flasher. I also have the new Dakota Digital gauges, and I've had my steering column in and out a few times. I've recently encountered a right turn signal problem.

It first started as no signal at all, front or back. I decided to change the led bulb out and then the rear started working, but not the front. The gauges blinker light doesn't come on either. I've also changed the front bulb out, but no difference. The front amber lights come on with headlamp power, just no blinker. The drivers side seems fine.

I'm thinking its a steering column issue. Maybe the steering column blade wiring connector didn't seat right and has come lose?

Thoughts? What else should I be looking for?

Does it come on with the emergency flashers?

I'm referring to a '79 schematic so it's possible there are differences even if I doubt there are any in this circuit.

There are separate contacts in the turn signal switch (not just wires) for the front/rear turn signals even though they operate in concert.

Your right front turn signals should get their power from a dark blue wire in the so-called "harmonica" connector at the base of the steering column.

So to answer your first question, yes it is entire possible that a poor connection at the harmonica connector is your root problem.

With the harmonica connector disconnected, turn the right turn signal on and check for continuity between the 14 gauge purple wire and the 20 gauge dark blue wire on the side leading to the switch (up the column). Then do the same thing with the turn signal switch off and the hazard switch on. You should get continuity both times. If not, the switch is the problem. If you do, then the problem is somewhere between the harness side of the harmonica connectors and the lights.

To see if a bad connection is the problem, with the ignition in the "off" position, connect a jumper wire between the purple and dark blue wires on the harness side of the harmonica connector. Turn to ignition to "on" and the right front turn signal and marker lights should work. If they do you have a bad connection--if not the problem is farther down in the wiring.

Presuming you find two dark blue wires at the harness side of the harmonica connector (as shown in my '79 schematic) I'm doubtful that the problem is past that connector as those two wires feed the front lights and dash indicator respectively and you say that none of these lights come on.
