Spare tire sizing???
I am currently running 255R60's on my 72 roadster. I was going to put a spare tire in the carrier but a 255 won't fit. It is too wide. I am going to go down to the local used tire shop in a few days, and find a narrower tire for the carrier that is the same height as the 255's. I am guessing a 215R70 will fit, but has anyone matche height's for the 255's, and will a R70 series fit width wise?

Your 255-60s have a 255 X .60 = 153mm sidewall.
To keep that height in a 70 series tire, you'd need a 153 / .70 = 218.6mm width. 220 should be close enough.
I would think that'd fit on your rim (if it's stock), but I'm not positive it'd fit your spare tire carrier.
My original tires were a GR70 series which I think is close to the 200mm and, of course, they fit on the rim and in my spare tire carrier.
