Default Replacing radiator

I am thinking of replacing the radiator in my 1975 C3 corvette.
Can anyone give me any suggestions on what I should replace it with and where could I purchase one ?.
What quart capacity should the new radiator be ?

If you go stock I always try to get a 3 or 4 core radiator with an AC car.

When my radiator needed replacing I brought it to the local radiator joint and thry rebuilt it for $150 or so.

All of the online vendors have radiators and well as your local NAPA, Autozone etc.

On my 75 auto AC restoration I took it to a local shop in Dayton OH I have used before.
They keep the original tanks & install a wide tube HD core. They weigh the radiator before & after the rebuild always weighs twice as much.
The Vette or GTO never come close to overheating ever. I also replace H2O pumps & all hoses.

As my car is not stock I went with the DeWitts radiator. I have compared them side by side to other aluminum radiators and found the quality to be far superior.

Why? Is it leaking? Are you having overheating issues? Are your sure you actually need a radiator? Have you considered having your existing radiator cleaned?

I believe the owner's manual lists capacities, coolant, oil, tranny fluid, differential, fuel tank, etc.

If its the original Rad I would have it re-cored
That way it will fit like a glove making an easy reinstall

The previous owner of my '70 had the original radiator recored. Last year it started leaking badly. I removed it and purchased a deWitts drop fit from Zip and it didn't fit! I started investigating and determined that I had the original tanks and it had been recored. However, it was 3/4" wider (between the tanks) than the replacement.

Checking the mounts, I determined they had been cut and welded to fit the recored tank positions. I ended up cutting and rewelding them to the original positions to fit my dewitts radiator. Eventually I plan on getting my original one back to original specs.

So, if you go the recore option, make sure you communicate well with the shop that does it!

Default 4 Core

I had my 3 core replaced by a 4 core, no more problems. It will fit properly and keep temps down w/elect fan.
