71 Corvette Center gauge bezel
This is a common issue when all the items are new and once you get it in place, when/if you go back inside the second time it will fall in place.
Willcox
Hi. I have been trying to get my gauge bezel and lower dashes to align with no luck. I have re-skinned lower dash pads, and a new center gauge bezel from Willcox. I tried installing the left lower dash pad, upper dash pad, center bezel, then right dash pad. (and lots of other combinations). No luck. I would love to hear some success stories so I can see if your solutions work on my car. (and they might give more motivation to get this right!).
One of the problems I am having is the right side dash pad ends up a good 1/2" to the right of where it should be resulting in it hitting the door panel and leaving a gap between it and the A-pillar. I'd be willing to live with that, but even then, the top of the bezel won't push forward into the dash. I can 'force it' it there, but there is no way a screw into ABS would hold it.
When I had everything apart 2 yrs ago, I remember pulling up and rearward on the front of the console seemed to relieve things a bit allowing the top of the bezel to seat better. But when I installed everything, its too tight. Wilcox, I don't understand the post above - are you saying I should install the 2 lower dash pads, keep the console 'loose', install the two bottom center bezel studs into the console, and push the console towards front of car forcing the bezel up? Do you or anyone else have measurements of successful install so I can determine if my dash pads are roughly in correct position? thanks, Steve
