Ok first off, turn the ignition to on and theres like a three second delay before things light up and turn on, cooling fans dash lights etc. Not creating a problem, more of just a concern.
Problem two. Courtesy lights have the delay feature. Open either door then close 30 seconds later they go out. Turn switch off doors closed lights on thirty seconds they go off. Park the car sit on the porch, courtesy lights come on by themselves. Open and shut door. Back to the porch now drinkin a beer. Lights are out. Three beers later, no lights. Now 8 beers, ok just a fluke. Wake up in the morning lights on but dim from dead battery. WTF its random as hell.It will do this every day sometimes and then go away for a month. How do I chase this to figure it out. Sorry for the long post.
4 beers here, I took out my dome light. No more dead batteries. It's not a perfect solution, but I want my car to start when I get in it. I'm not good enough to track down and fix the problem.

Its an 81 if anyones wondering. Lol
Similar problem. The battery in my 80 went dead, down to 2.94 volts. Thankfully I caught it early and was able to charge it back up. I had no idea what was going on and started hunting for a parasitic draw. I knew the alternator was failing due to the battery light being on very dimly while running. The system was charging but the internal regulator had some issues. I thought the problem was solved with a new alternator (chrome!). The light was out and no parasitic draw. By chance, after taking it for a test drive and returning to the garage, the interior lights did not go out after closing the driver door. Oh, the timer must be cooked? No the timer was fine, the drivers door switch was faulty, it was a "summa time" switch. Some of the time it worked, some of the time it didn't.

It could be the jamb switches... I'd definitely check them first. Then I'd look at the delay timer. Located behind the glove box on you car and pretty easy to replace.
The delay in the other lights and fans working has me concerned though... I don't think this is related to the delay timer. Trouble shooting that wont be easy.
