Default Using a 1981 dash harness in a 1980?

I bought a 1980 vette with a tpi motor and 5 speed transmission that had a dash fire. The dash harness is pretty messed up but the painless ecu and harness for the fuel injection system is fine. I have a 1981 a/t parts car that I want to use the harness out of but after looking at the wiring diagrams, I noticed they are a little different. If I use this harness with I run into any problems?

the 1980 has no computer .the 81 does .but I would think it should work.most of the connections for the computer would be under the hood.you may have more options on one car then the other one but should be close.never tried it .just my thoughts.hope it works for you.

My 73 converted to 1980/81 is using a little bit of both 80 and 81 wiring harnesses. Still have not figured out what previous owner used. Most of the dash as it relates to instruments should be the same. 81 used an oil temp gauge instead of the clock which I think was moved to the radio.

As mentioned, there could be some accessory items included or missing between years such as rear defroster. I've got some unused dash harness connections on my vette.

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think there should be an issue at all. The ECM (computer controlled stuff) on the 1981 had a special harness just for those circuits, they will not effect the main harness at all. The only thing that I think is different might be the clock -- The 1981 lost the clock for an oil temp gauge.
