Can solid roller lifters be used on a hydraulic roller cam?, it's a garage debate, I'm sure they can but for how long...?
I would think they could be used IF the rocker arms had a small amount of lash to prevent valve burning. But without gentle clearance ramps the lash would cause the valves to "hammer" open so I would think camshaft, push rods, and rocker arms would fail quickly. It would be like dumping the clutch every time you started off....................

I remember reading long ago that hydraulic lifters could be used on a solid lifter cam, but solid lifters can not be used on a hydraulic cam. A solid lifter cam has ramps that gently take up the clearance needed with solid lifters.

Fwiw and from were I heard it, I've heard that you could run solids on a hydraulic, but not hydraulics on a solid and the reasoning of this was the ramp rates of the solid would have hydraulics floating, on the solid lifters you'd still have to run lash.
