You will also need to take the black wire that comes from the white plastic base of the switch, and move it from the D slot and splice it to the white wire so both are in the C slot on the connector. Make sure to carefully trace the wires on both switches to make sure you've got the correct wires.
I couldn't get pictures to post but I will e-mail them to any one who asks for them.

And what seems to be broken on your switch?
The switch portion of the switch is real simple in design, it's a 3 position rocker switch with simple brass contacts...
If it is a broken pivot bracket on a T&T column I can get you some GM part numbers.
Many different GM models used the same pivot bracket that with a simple modification can be switched out and used on your 77.
The GM #78273386 switch used above is also very hard to find nowadays...
The original 77 Wiper/Washer switch for a T&T column was GM #7827152
The 386 switch as stated above does need 2 simple modifications...
Physically, the 386 & 152 switches look the same at first glance...
Here are a few angles of a 7827152 switch...
The pivot bracket on the switch in my photo is of first design, later GM made the pivot bracket stronger by eliminating several cutouts when the bracket was cast...
Newer style pivot bracket(s)
