The story of my corvette life.
I finally decided to get the cracked windshield replaced, and now my dash is missing. Why do I keep digging these holes for myself?

Any suggestion on projects to complete while I have everything taken apart?

I pulled it so I could cut the windshield out without any damage to the dash. It was no big deal to take it out, but I always have problems putting things back together. I am trying to find a speaker bracket so I can add another speaker to the dash. Also need to refurbish my rear view mirror. Never simple....

I would buy a light bulb kit and replace all of them. I would pull each fuse out and clean the contacts and put new fuses in too.

If you are not staying "original" insulate the entire inner firewall with a quality sound deadener/heat reflective material....you won't regret the extra effort!

The upper windshield corner chrome moldings can only be replaced with the windshield out. The screw in accessed from the side where the glass normally is in the way.
If you were thinking about changing them, now's the time.

When reinstalling the gauge cluster, assuming yours is like my '73, instead of fighting with those nuts on the studs at the bottom of the cluster, go to the hardware store and buy three threaded rod nuts or sometimes called coupler nuts and use them, there long and will make it easy to install and tighten. The reason I said to buy three is because if you are like me I will lose one of them on the way home.

If not yet recommended, label/identify and take pictures of everything so you know where it goes when putting it all back together.

Absolutely second this! Take pictures of every wire and connection. Even shoot video of it. Trust me, you will hate yourself when you get everything back together and your wipers don't work. Ask me how I know.
