I replaced the oil in my '75 rear end, cleaned the plug and threads but when I try to put in the plug I can't get it to go in completely I still have like 3mm of thread sticking out.
That doesn't seem normal is it ? There was no washer or gasket in between when I took it off.

Anything that I'm missing ??
The Corvettes use a 1/2"-NPT fill plug (a common pipe plug) with tapered threads and they're supposed to stick out a few threads. Pipe plugs just need to be tightened snugly.
