Default Quick question on adjusting valves

Did the cam this weekend and am about to do valve adjust. The manifild is on so I can't see inside. Correct me if I'm wrong. The first lifter is the exhaust than intake, intake , exhaust, exhaust , intake ,intake, exhaust. and the same on the other side. Right or wrong.

Dogboy,
Congrads on the upgrades. Just look under the one you are adjusting, if you see the exhaust port then that is an exhaust. I have just went through this is this is what I learned the hard way. I adjusted mine before the intake went on and could see exactly when I had zero lash...then 1/2 turn. The instructions said that 8 of them could be done at number 1 TDC and then rotate 180 degrees and do the remaining 8. Well after cam break in I had a annoying single pop through the carb on hard acceleration. I couldn't figure it out. Everyone here told me that it was a single lifter set to tight ...how could this be, I was so careful and was positive I was at exactly 1/2 turn past zero lash. Here was my solution....I wrapped some 1/2" wide masking tape around the balancer on the front of the engine and made sure it was overlapped. Made a single cut at TDC with a knife and then removed the tape...measured it out and make 4 equal sections on it, this will give you your 90 degree timing marks...then reinstall it with one mark aligned on the timing mark and just follow the firing order and adjust each set of valves for each cylinder at 90 degree intervals. After that I found that 2 of my valves were at least 3/4 turn past zero, backed them off to 1/2 and my pop was gone...works for me. Just my .02 hope this helps. And thanks forum...couldn't have found it with all the input.

If you look at the exhaust ports and then where the intake runners line up, you can tell which ones are I and E.

How would this be done on a solid lifter motor? The same, except adjust lash instead of doing the .5 turn?
