Default Might be getting a deal on heads.

I may have a deal on some iron 64cc heads.955-011150-1 world product heads. Also a team G intake....Has anyone used them? i have a stock motor but at the price they are at i find it hard to pass up and anything will beat the 882. Any opinions on these?

A Team G is a single plane 360 degree track racing manifold meant for steady high rpm use so it would be a poor choice for a street engine that typically operates from 550 to 5500 rpm. Yes, it will work but a dual plane 180 degree manifold is a much better choice for low to mid range operation.

The heads will work better than the 882's for sure, the team g is an awesome intake. The heads new are 1400 or so dollars and the intake runners are 200cc that are choked down by 2.02" intake valves. The plugs are angled and only work with some headers and this is were you want to make sure that either the existing headers or the headers you plan on buying work with angle plugs. You'd want a .015" head gasket and a cam in the 226 to 230ish at .050" range and 3.55 to 3.7 gears with a 2600 to 2800 rpm stall, the heads are cast iron so your not saving weight and you'd want the intake to be the low rise if possible medium at the most as the team g comes in three pad heights. And of course all of this would work better with a 3.75" stroke as opposed to the 3.48" stroke the the 350" has. Since your saving money on the heads you could put Saud saved money toward a roller cam to take advantage of the new surplus of cfm that the sportsman's will supply...

Yes the team g is a single plane, but I disagree with the rest of your statement, the low rise team g will fit under a stock vette hood and add plenty of performance in the mid and high range as long as the rest of the combination is matched to it. It out performs the edelbrock rpm air gap that i had on my engine and would work real well on your 454".

I have an edelbrock 2101 i know not a performance intake by any means but i can easily sell the team g intake. Heads and intake he wants 500. i do plan on building a 383 down the road(or finding one on craigslist).....would 200cc be too big however for the stock stroke or would they be fine. I agree with 383 being the road to take but i just want a lithe something more to hold me off until i get my 383.. i have a 3.55 rear end and a 6 speed fyi

I don't think they will be too big, a little big yes, but choked down some with the intake valve. are there better heads out there, yes, but for 500$ there hard to beat, you'll need to match all the parts to work together, research the heads as far as combo's with the world sportsman 2's and see what you come up with on the inter web. You would want a camshaft to work with those heads, with the stock camshaft you won't notice a whole bunch more power but should notice some over the 882's that came on your engine originallly. As far as the intake I'd try and atleast go performer rpm, but with out matching camshaft and atleast the converter then yea you might be better off with a dual plane. I personally like the team g and think that if you matched the rest of the parts that would be the way to go.

That sized head, even with a little work would work great with the 383 and team G. With porting those intakes have even more potential. Think many people underrate them. The ports arent humungo in size so they still make decent torque on the street, plenum isnt huge either

I like my Team G. The lower pad height and a 1-3/4" drop base filter assembly allows me to use a 4" deep air filter and it fits under my stock hood.

The Team G is a leader in the lower rise manifolds......only the Victor Jr. comes near it...but the Victor needs a lot of port matching out of the box.....modified...neither outshines the other....out of the box...the Team G is better.....

http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/engine/...-intakes-test/

I am going to run a Team G on my 406......I recommend runner entrance blending and port matching on these for best performance....

Bowl blend your World heads too! It will pick up dramatically!

Good Luck,

Jebby

The head port size determines what intake manifold is required. So you look up the head port dimensions and then you look up the intake port dimensions. The intake manifold MUST be the same or slightly larger where you can blend the head port to match

Big heads can't use dual planes. I've had to use single planes for the basically whole life of my 79 vette

There is a point where the new High Rise dual planes run out of breath on a small block....that is at about 530 horsepower....these will not fit under a stock hood though.
The Team G or Vic Jr. Is the best compromise between height and power....

And most come slightly smaller than a 1205 Fel Pro to blend into....
The Victor Jr. Is definately smaller out of the box from experience....

As your '79 came from the factory with a dual plane intake manifold why can't you use one now? I'm dying to know why you think so.

You learn how to make single plane intakes work. You increase the signal to the carb by using smaller cfm, or vs carbs, 4 hole spacers, and things like annular discharge boosters. I figured out how to run 355 ci with over 200cc heads with 2.055 /1.60 team G, and 825 cfm Demon carb. A dual plane manafold on my 79 would cost me a lot of HP... Absolutely no problems driving her in town... run the single plane plastic Titan manifold by AFR.... duel plans are nice for low revving engines...
