I also played with the DRL, still not totally sure if I'm happy with them but they are basically hidden when off so...

I have always felt daylight running lights are a great safety feature to make oncoming drivers more aware of your presence. I have had a number of close calls when an oncoming driver just doesn't see me because of a low sun blinding him/her so running lights can make the difference between being in a wreck or not being in a wreck. I'm all for them...................

They are hi-intensity version of the flexible 12v LED strips (waterproof) painted black and mounted behind the grills on the plastic light guards for now while I try different ideas. Oddly enough the spacing is almost perfect for the grill pattern. They seem to be more common now but originally I got them from a kitchen cabinet place for under cabinet lighting.

COB LED's are a very intense white and pretty visible. Would not want to have them on at night.

COB LEDs. This looks like a very clean and neat option. Any more info on your install. Looks like the lens were modified?

I am also of the opinion we need DRL options. When everyone else has DRLs you become even more unnoticed especially at twilight. Add in the distracted driving as mentioned. Scary. Plus I've seen the inner door construction on a c3. Not much there.

There is option DRL-1 from
http://www.webelectricproducts.com That looks like it is an easy mod but I have heard the product is not very reliable.

I'm not good at electrical fabbing. Keep ideas coming guys. I have added higher candle power brake bulbs for more intensity. Every little bit helps.

I like Brent319's install too; subtle, yet clearly present.

i bought one of those units from ecklers, worked couple of weeks, then failed, burnt out.
as i'm from downunder, contacted webelectric, but as they wont sell outside of USA, they wouldn't offer any help.

so i designed my own setup using the front park lights on my '72.
turns on the 'turn filliment' fulltime.
couple relays, handful diodes, and a capacitor, works great.
they both turn off when indicating, and come on bout 8sec after.
i'm using the brightest filliment globe i could get, but will replace with a cree led soon.

(will post photos when i get home from work)

I worked at GM Corp in Detroit and back in the '70s they started promoting DRLs. I didn't like them then but now I'm in my 60s and I want to add them to my cars!

Here is my version of DRLs.

These are side emmiting LEDs on a flexible strip. They are mounted on top of the grill insert and wired on a separate switch.
I found these on E-Bay a couple of years ago.
Happy Thanksgiving all.
