Default 79 headers and full exhaust

Hello All,
I have a 79 manual trans and A/C, looking for a complete exhaust system with a set of headers no side pipes. I don't have a lot to spend but looking for something I can install myself. I don't know of any systems out there.

You try Corvette Central? Sometimes they offer free shipping.

Does your '79 have the 2 holes in the trans cross member for true dual exhaust? That could be a problem for store bought systems

Hooker Headers offers a complete exhaust system to work with their competition headers. Pretty reasonable priced and it fits. On sale at Summit for $175. Part number 16521HKR.

I just put corvette centrals complete dual exhaust system on my '79 auto. Complete with ceramic coated shorty headers an 2 1/2" pipes and manga flow mufflers. Great sounding system and installation was pretty simple. Only problem I ran into was that they didn't send me the donuts that go from the headers to the pipes and I lost some time trying to find ones locally that fit.

And yes, '79's have the dual exhaust crossmember, even with an auto.

Whole thing was right around $700. Has my recommendation

On my 79 I went with Flowtech long tube ceramic headers with corvette central pipes. The headers fit perfect and for the price I highly recommend. Most will say the shorts offer little in HP over the stock. So if that matters I would stay with the long tubes. For the pipes I would have gone with a local shop, but none in my area could bend custom exhaust. The Corvette Central pre bents fit fine. Mufflers are a matter of personal preference.
