Default AC Compressor Pulley Size

I am doing a AC retrofit, and my new compressor has a 5 in. pulley instead of the 5 3/4, what difference will this make to my system. The part shop states no problem, just change belt size. What are forum members experience with this?

I'll hazard a guess that it would make very little difference. Smaller pulley spins faster but keep it under 6grand rpm and no worries. One gotcha on the A/C comp I found is that a wrong length belt will allow the comp to rotate enough to cause contact between the hood and the hard fitting coming off the back. Best bet is to place the comp in position you feel comfy with, then measure with a tape around the pulleys.
 :smash:
