Default Question On Setting Alignment Toe

Does one turn the tie rod end "sleaves" the same way, equally, when setting the toe?

Turn each tube the same(as close as possible) number of turns. If one tube is much shorter than the other, the wheel won't be able to rotate to it's maximum and the turning radius of the car will be larger. Turning each in the same direction will have the same effect on the rotation of the wheel-that is, both will increase or decrease the toe in depending upon direction they are turned.

Remember, playing with the tie rods will affect the centering of the steering wheel! The wheel must be indexed to the center of the steering box at first. This is to allow equal lock to lock swing and the proper operation of the turn signal auto canceling

Ya thanks, I understand that.

So, just so I'm clear:
- center the steering wheel first
- make sure sleaves are equal distance from tie rod ends on both sides
- then set the toe.
Have I got this right?

tie steering wheel in center or it will move jack car ad use yellow or white marker to mark center of each tire as you spin wheel lower car off jack and role forwards about 5 feet now take tie rods loose and measure distance at rear of tires an front of tires move wheels until wheels are same distance at front and rear carefully hook up tie rods that should be zero toe now turn each rod equally to get specified toe usually about 1/8 in
